principal's message

Hello Carmel Cougars!

My name is Craig Gunter and I am your new principal.

Thank you to all of the staff, students, and parents who have helped me feel so welcome in my first year. If you are new to Carmel, I want to welcome each of you to our school, and let you know a little bit more about myself. I grew up in Southern California and I have lived in Hesperia since 1988. I started my 14-year teaching career in Hesperia, and I have been a principal in Hesperia for 12 years. This is my 26th year working in Hesperia Unified School District.

I know that Carmel has seen many changes in administrators over the years, but I look forward to being your principal for a long time. I love the city of Hesperia and I appreciate and respect the people who live and work in our community. Both of my children have attended schools in our city, and my son is currently at Sultana High School.

During my first month of the school year I have spent a lot of time getting to know students, parents, staff, and teachers. It didn’t take me long to discover that this school has one of the finest groups of teachers and support staff in all of Hesperia. My commitment is to working with all of our school community to make our school the best school in the city. Please stop by and introduce yourself. I’d love to get to know you.

I look forward to having a fantastic year! Remember to show your Cougar Pride everyday!
